Confusion on Biotin

I’m still a bit unsure about what strength of Biotin I should be taking each day. How much are most of you lot taking daily?

I’m asking because my prescription from my Dr. says 30mcg a day, but nearly everything I see in shops is 5,000mcg. Bit of a jump, that. Cheers.

I take 150 micrograms plus another 50 micrograms. From what I’ve seen, 50 micrograms covers 100 percent of the recommended daily intake, so I reckon your Dr. thinking is that his patients are probably eating actual food as well.

You can take 5,000 micrograms if you want. It’s not harmful or anything.

Did he actually tell you to take biotin, or are you just borrowing his protocol from someone else he treated?

i was told to take biotin, but I wasn’t exactly strict with it at first. I’ve started taking it properly now though and I’m on 5000mcg a day.

Biotin’s not some secret protocol anyway, you couldn’t nick it even if you tried

I’ve been taking 5000mcg as well. Seems like that’s the standard dose most people go for.

Thank you Zildjan! :slightly_smiling_face:

I was asking because if the doctor prescribed biotin to you, it’s probably best to check with the doctor directly.

I spoke to his office about it last March and was a bit confused at the time. I’ve now decided to just take one capsule of 5000mcg a day. Quite a few of the lads on this forum are doing the same and it seems reasonable enough. I’d say it’s sorted now. Cheers for checking in.

it is a bit confusing
