I was watching Neil deGrasse Tyson on Joe Rogan, and he mentioned that it is common to start losing hair in your late 20s or early 30s. He also said that if you still have your hair at 30, you will probably keep it for life.
Just wondering if that is generally true. What was your experience?
My hairline started receding in my late 20s or early 30s, and it has been thinning ever since. My hair has always been a bit fine, but I had good density on my scalp. These days, the top front is thinning the most, so I have to spray a bit of sunblock up there to avoid getting burnt.
I am 45 now, and the rate of hair loss seems to have slowed down. My dad is 63 and quite thin on top, probably has about half the density I do.
I first noticed a receding hairline at around 17, and it just became more noticeable over time. The thinning on top didn’t really kick in until I was about 25.
Started in my late teens. It was rough watching my hairline thin out, especially with one of my mates calling me “Forehead” when we used to hoop together.
In my mid-20s, I got a transplant to sort most of the hairline, but I’m still thinking about getting another one to cover the rest and my crown.
Yes, it’s quite a relief reading through this forum and realising I’m not the only one going through this. It’s actually helped me make the decision to shave my head.
