I’m wondering how painful a hair transplant actually is.
From what I’ve heard, it’s painful enough, but the recovery is the real hassle. Have a look at some videos of blokes who’ve had it done.
A mate of mine had one done six months ago. He said it hurt, but nothing major. It builds up over time as the procedure goes on. Think of getting a jab. not too bad on its own, but now imagine that happening repeatedly for six hours.
His head was properly swollen for a few weeks after, but once that settled, it was fine. just a bit itchy.
The only real pain is the cost and the waiting. Doubting whether it was worth it while hoping for decent results.
You’re under local anaesthetic during the surgery, so you won’t feel much at the time.
How much does it usually set you back where you’re from?
… That’s the thing. there aren’t really many top-quality doctors who can pull off a successful procedure. I’ve got mates who’ve had it done, and with the right doctor (who you’ll still have to wait a year or two for), you’re looking at around £12-20K.
I travel to Türkiye a few times a year, and there are always blokes walking around with bandages on their heads. Most of the ones I’ve spoken to said it was a breeze.
A mate of mine just had one done. Cost him $14k. The surgery itself was painless, but the weeks after were a bit rough.
What was rough about it?
Pain, awful sleep, and looking like someone went at his scalp with a sandpaper mitt for three weeks. Had to stay out of the sun too. Grim recovery, really.
