For the lads dealing with hair loss, do you think it actually changes how girls see you? Honest opinions, personal experiences, and a bit of banter welcome.
Just shave it and keep some sunscreen handy if you’re somewhere sunny. Own it and dress the part.
It’s a losing battle unless you’re up for treatments or hair plugs.
If you’re after the scientific take, being bald does make you less attractive than having hair. That said, it apparently makes you come across as stronger, more confident, and even taller. No idea why taller, mind I’d have thought hair would add a bit of height, but that’s what the internet reckons.
Now, speaking from experience, started losing mine at 18, shaved it at 21. Girls liked me when I had decent hair, girls liked me when I shaved it, but when I was thinning? Absolutely no chance.
Men’s health mags and the like have covered this. Best look is a full head of hair with a decent haircut. Second is a shaved head comes across as strong and confident. Then there’s visible hair loss, and right at the bottom, the dreaded comb-over.
A right nightmare. Women hate the look of a bloke losing his hair. If it’s happening, just shave the lot and own it, they much prefer that.
some suits short, thinning hair better than a shaved head, depending on their head and face shape.
Most girls like a bloke with a good head of hair.
Some are into the shaved head and a bit of stubble or a beard.
No girl’s ever fancied a man with an egg in the nest or a Bobby Charlton comb-over, so just make the best of what you’ve got.
Only if you go for a comb-over. Just own it, like Patrick Stewart.
Ask Vin Diesel. Has being bald ruined his life? I doubt it.
For the past 20 years, I have only married or dated men with a completely shaved head from balding. Some women, not all, prefer it. Personally, a bald head with hair around the sides just reminds me of my dad. Makes a bloke look older. But a shaved head? That puts me more in mind of Vin Diesel, The Rock, 2Pac, and the rest.
Shaving your head does not mean you have to ditch hair altogether. Facial hair like a beard, goatee, or 'tache can look great and gives you something else to take care of. Get yourself a decent shaving kit, some beard oil, a proper buzzer, and some beard shampoo. Plenty of men dye their beards too.
Only if you let it. For blokes who are self-conscious about it, it probably does make them seem less confident. But if you just accept it and get on with it, it won’t make much difference.
By the time your hair starts thinning and balding up top, most women your age know it happens anyway.
Shaving, it is always the best call when your hair starts going. After that, it’s just whether you can make the bald look work.
Hair loss affects how people see you, no doubt about it. I know I’ll go bald one day, and at some point, I’ll have to shave it all off. I’ve made peace with that, but for now, I’m going to enjoy what hair I’ve got left.
That said, there’s no denying that balding men get judged differently.
Shave it off, join a gym, and learn how to dress properly. You will be fine.
I shaved my head at 23, and now I’m 27. Funny thing is, I’ve pulled more girls bald than I ever did with hair. It’s not just about the hair, personality matters too. I’m the quiet type, but I can pull off the shaved look. Put on a bit of muscle, and you can as well.
That said, people do get a bit wary. No one really talks to me, and when I walk into a room, I rarely get a greeting.
