Experienced look
When I started out as a young entrepreneur, the biggest change after I began balding and shaved my head was that people took me more seriously. Many assumed I was older, which suggested experience and expertise. That opened doors and helped me connect with influential people. -
Easier networking
It is simpler to chat when you have an instant connection. Bald blokes tend to stick together. Spot another bald man at an event and you have an easy in. A light bald joke can be a good icebreaker. -
Consistent professional appearance
On cold or windy days, I step outside with no worries. If you have hair, it can go wild. We have all seen someone turn up with messy hair and look less put together. That can make people think you are less professional or less trustworthy. -
Nothing left to lose
If your hair has already gone, you are not fretting about shedding during long, stressful days. The fear of going bald can be a big distraction, and losing that worry helps you focus. -
Time savings
Time is money. Being bald saves time each morning, no shampooing, conditioning, or styling. I get to the office earlier and use that time to be more productive.
Mate, I had no idea bald blokes had all these perks. I’m shaving my head right now!
It never held back Sean Connery, Jason Statham, Patrick Stewart, and, erm, plenty of others.
I can appreciate this. The guy is just trying to sound out to dudes who are on the fringe of complete loss to let it go, even if some of these things aren’t complete advantages of course. I always think that being bald isn’t an issue, its all how a person fits or reacts to their situation. I have a buddy who’s bald and can’t come to grips with it and wears a cap everywhere he goes, the shocking thing is he looks better now than when he had hair because he never did anything good with it back when he had it. On the flip side, another buddy of mine completely rocks it and ppl levitate towards him because he’s so comfortable with it. Its a challenge for sure, and i’m not one to talk for how easy it is to accept hair loss as I’ve done as much as most ppl can to keep mine.
Nothing wrong with being bald. I’ve never thought any less of blokes with less hair. I don’t date guys, so I couldn’t care less what they look like. If another bloke chats rubbish about your hair, tell him to f*** off.
The look can work for a lot of blokes. It depends.
As a rule of thumb, shaving your head is a good first step. You never really know how it will go until you try it.
We can all agree there’s a point where you’re clinging on by the last strands.
It’s hard to accept and, sadly, hair loss can be cruel. It can hit hard if you don’t act. In my view, a lot of lads never get proactive enough to even start prevention.
Hair’s a big part of who you are, whether you’re keen on it or not.
Sounds like someone missed out on that promotion
.
When I was 17 I had a job washing dishes in a diner. It might have been fine if I actually looked 17, but looking 35 while scrubbing plates just made me look like some bloke who’d failed in life. At 18 I got an entry-level job on the casino floor, the youngest person working there in New Jersey at the time. That should’ve been seen as a big achievement, but because I looked about 40, it came off the opposite way. I looked like a middle-aged man starting at the bottom.
By 20 I’d already been promoted twice and was working as a casino floor supervisor. I wasn’t even old enough to legally be on the floor unless I worked there, but I was running part of it. That was a huge accomplishment for me, but to everyone else I just looked like a forty-something in a junior role, and it carried no weight. So no, there’s no benefit at all to being bald and looking older in the workplace. If anything, it worked against me because people assumed I should’ve been much further ahead in my career given how old I looked.
Being a supervisor at 20 is a brilliant achievement. I reckon in your head it didn’t feel like much because of how you looked, but chances are people respected you far more than you gave yourself credit for. They probably didn’t just see you as the young bald lad the way you saw yourself. I get where you’re coming from though – still, well done mate, be proud of it.
There are still a few other options you can look into, such as:
- Dutasteride (prescription)
- Combining oral minoxidil with topical minoxidil for better results
- Microneedling
- Ketoconazole shampoo 2% (prescription)
These are really just coping methods.
Funny, I think the same way myself ![]()
You’ve got to remember, being bald isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some blokes can pull it off, while others just don’t.
so your 5 reason is only applicable to those who blokes who can pull if off
I get what you’re saying, but those are really just coping methods and don’t apply to everyone, especially now that more and more lads are dealing with it as early as 17 or so.
Based take, mate. I agree with some of it but disagree with the rest.
I guess it might work well for some, but for most people not so much
.
I like the positivity, but no.
I’m bald, and as a bald bloke I can honestly say only points 4 and 5 are the real ones here.
